Thankful Hearts, Helpful Hands

by Vanessa Valerio, November 12, 2019

I love this time of year. It's the season of reflection, connecting with loved ones, and pausing to take stock of all that we are grateful for in our lives. Revisiting all of the fantastic memories experienced at CI throughout the years, the life lessons clients have taught me along this path are what stand out most.

As a former caregiver, nurse, and now executive, I can honestly say that no matter what phase of life I have been in, these four perspectives that I have learned from clients have served as my guiding light:

  • Authentic empathy for another's journey and well-being. Every interaction is significant - and it should be honest and sincere. Leadership, in any capacity, requires a genuine desire to care and help others. In the caregiving industry, we are always striving to find better solutions to improve the quality of life of those we care for, and this is only achievable when actively listening to needs and placing ourselves in someone else's shoes.

  • Integrity. Honor with words and follow through with every promise you make- only then can you develop trust with others.

  • Learn to embrace both the failures and hurdles. The most successful people in life are not perfect, but those who can recognize the opportunity for growth with each challenge.

  • Maintain a positive attitude and a grateful heart. Appreciate life during good times and through the bad. If you can keep your glass continually half-full, there is little that can get in the way of your success.

With gratitude in our hearts, we wish you health, prosperity, and joy this Thanksgiving holiday. I know that we are eternally thankful for all the blessings our clients have gifted to us.
